Lovers of bigger styles will be in heaven with this fabulous Durif from Tenafeate Creek.
Inky in the glass, it is densely coloured as you'd expect. A powerful thing, it sees 12 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak. An explosion of purple berries and flowers rushes to meet you along with a bucket load of blackberries. It was looking its best on days two and three of tasting so a good decant or a few years tucked away will be of benefit. Mocha, dark chocolate and fruit cake add interest with the oak demonstrating some power early on. Softly spiced, the tannins show a powdery profile and dry out ever so gradually. Be patient and you'll see it at its best. Good stuff.
