Wild Game Wines The Earl Pinot Noir 2024

I haven't seen a Pinot Noir from Wild Games Wines previously. Sourced from Mt Gambier, south of their Coonawarra home, this delivers some pleasing varietal characteristics.

Swirl the glass and it reaches out with an inviting opening highlighted by savoury delight. Think twigs, tilled earth, black tea leaves, burnt sage and peat. Firm and tense to taste, the fruit profile is driven by dark plums and dark cherry fruit with some dark chocolate and faint char nuances. The longer it sits, the savoury concentration ensures it has the upper hand and steals the limelight. Delicate ripples of baking spices and barbecue rub spices seize control of the sustained finish. It's a wine that will rise up with food by its side.
