McLaren Vale is not Chardonnay country and this wine proves that theory to be correct once more.
It comes across tense, extracted and baked. Baked is the word as baked lemons take the focus - they remind me of a baked prawn risotto I make (thanks Donna Hay), where the lemons play a crucial role with a distinct flavour impact. The acid and fruit seem at odds here. Brutish, it's not demonstrating the varietal traits nor structure I'd be looking for. Pass.
