Main Divide Chardonnay 2024

Get in the queue! A ripping bargain for around 30 bucks, this Main Divide Chardonnay punches well above its weight for quality and value. Woah!

Waipara is a haven for untapped potential. Such an underrated region that sits in the shadows of its Kiwi giants, I enthusiastically recommend a trip to the North Canterbury district.

Main Divide is produced by one of the region's heavyweights, Pegasus Bay. With considerable runs on the board, this label delivers quality, flavour and interest at a bargain price.

Swirl the glass and take a sip to reveal a platter of peaches, white fleshed nectarines, golden apple and yellow fleshed grapefruit. Add a squeeze of lemon juice with fine cashew and hazelnut nuances. Dig a little deeper to reveal green mango, pineapple husk and the suggestion of caramel. Ribbons of cream flow effortlessly but the oak is not dense nor weighty. Not to be outdone, the fabulous shape and flow culminate with a biscuity and ginger spice undertow. All this for 30 bucks is madness. Run, don't walk.
