Smallwater Estate Precursor 2024

Smallwater Estate's Precursor is a Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot blend. It shows all the signs of being a powerhouse, but what you get is a wine that is composed and carries an appealing sense of form.

A melange of black fruit, cassis and dark plums make the first impression as savoury delights slide in with ease in the form of dark chocolate and dried Mediterranean herbs. Purple flower aromas rise up adding further delight as they waft onto the palate delivering a pleasurable mouth perfume. That minerally thread seen in so many of the wines from Geographe stays true as soft spices tickle a lengthy and persistent finish. Great drinking and a wine that grew on me over a few days of tasting. What a delight!
