This is the first Barbera that has come across my tasting bench from the Adelaide Hills. Records are meant to be broken, right?
I suspect some whole bunches were used here and the stems don't appear to be ripe. There is a green tinge that detracts from the overall appearance here. Tasted over three days, that greeny trait, leafy presence and cut green herbs kept capturing my gaze.
Sure, the bones are there with dark cherries, plums, pine needles and spiced berries with a slight minty appeal, but it's hard to recommend. Conversely, run hard at the Gamay - your taste buds will be forever in debt.
