Focused, shapely and composed, this Heggies Estate Riesling is a thoughtful take on a warm year.
From the 1974 and 1975 plantings on shallow, gravelly soils perched 500–550 metres up, this warmer vintage release finds its groove despite the heat.
Green apples and lemonade lead the charge, joined by whispers of preserved lemon and a lovely custard apple note as it opens. Sitting on fine lees brings a toasty and considered expression plus a brush of lemon pith texture and a crushed quartz minerality. There’s a tang reminiscent of lemon granita from an Italian beachside kiosk - cool, zesty, and refreshing. At just 11%, it hums with restrained energy, mineral drive and finesse. Nicely done.
