Semillon is the Hunter Valley's gift to wine lovers and this Tyrrell's Vat 1 2019 is in elite form once again.
It’s insane how fresh this looks for a six-year-old wine. Preserved lemons and lemon curd begin to emerge behind whispers of rosemary sprig, Meyer lemon and lemon juice. It’s clearly moving into its ageing phase, with a lovely waxy texture now making its presence known. There is a fine phenolic grip and exceptional width through the palate. It's a wine that carries both essence and depth, yet glides through with effortless abandon. Measured intensity and drive give it poise and purpose. Made for seafood, that lemony squeeze will make fresh oysters or baked fish sing. This is brilliant and still has many years of life ahead.
