From 30+ year old vines on the Bantry Grove site, the home of some spectacular Orange sparkling, Slow Wine Co kept a little parcel for themselves to produce this Blanc de Blancs.
Spending four years in bottle, it's wonderfully complex and the detail is clear, but it's boxed in on the mid-palate. This is evident on tasting, but slide a wedge of cheese in your mouth and you wouldn't know. Wafer biscuits, biscotti, almond meal and a delicate cashew drive get my attention yet hold firm on the mid-palate, but I'd like it to follow through more. That extra stretch through to the back palate will make this dangerous. A bready complexity is a feature throughout with a delightful citrus lift. All up, it's a very tidy aperitif as you kick back with the graceful afternoon breeze brushing against your face and a glass of this in hand.
