Pauletts Brielle Grenache 2025

I first came across this wine back in June on the trophy judging bench at the Royal Queensland Wine Show and I was hooked. At the time I didn't know what it was as it was served blind, but damn, it left an impression!

Fast forward to now, and it arrived on my doorstep with a brace of other wines from the Paulett range.

This is also a timely reminder that Clare Valley Grenache can comfortably mix it with the usual heavy hitters from the Barossa and McLaren Vale. Winemaker Jarrad Steele and his team have found their groove here.

Squishy raspberries, juicy red cherries and blueberries leap from the glass, with a gentle flick of red apple skin. The palate is where it really sings with juicy, silky and seductive fruit. It glides effortlessly while maintaining an impressive buoyant presence. A subtle lick of meatiness threads through the core, bringing another layer of interest without disturbing the wine's flow. Delicate spices draw fine lines through the palate and carry long into a persistent, moreish finish. The urge to return for another sip is very real. It will even take a chill in warmer months. This is an excellent Grenache.
