Alkimi Marsanne Intrepide 2016
Quite a confronting wine to taste - it's right in your face. I persisted but couldn't bring myself around to liking it.
Although well made, it just didn't mesh for me.
A portion spent 21 days on skins aiding the copper/bronze type appearance.
Aromas of tangelo, orange zest with something almost similar to aniseed but I just couldn't nail it. Those orange and tangelo characters come out again in the mouth but it's tart. Pithy. Interestingly freshly picked mint appears and is unmistakable. Perhaps too much so. Time in the glass didn't provide much change either. Mind you, some hipsters would be in love here. Perhaps my lack of facial hair could be the determining factor here. Sigh.
Drink now to three years.
