Meerea Park Indie Semillon Chardonnay 2015
There's not many such blends in the Hunter - this the first for Meerea Park. There seems to be some change in the air with a few new additions of late. Old Rhysie is getting creative!
A 60/40 blend from different vineyards with only the Chardonnay portion seeing oak, second use French oak at that. Both parcels were fermented separately and blended in January 2016.
Dried grass, herby with a muted citrusy tang and creamy fleck through the mid palate. There's a freshness coming from the Semillon but it seems restrained by the Chardonnay to get out the party suit. A phenolic grip hangs on with a touch of nuttiness. Good for a scorching afternoon. I'd be good for a glass for sure.
Drink now to three years.
90/100 - Very good
