I'm looking for vibrancy but this Merlot seems to walk on its heels. Only 20% sees French oak and the fruit gives the impression it is a little older than two years. Blackberries and dark plums fill the mouth with tart acidity and puckering drying tannin whipping up the tail. All that said and done, it's one of those wines which I'd be curious to see where it goes with more bottle age.
Drink now to five years.
