Named after the coal seam which lies under the Carrick vineyards which was mined during the gold rush period, this is quite intense. Seeing 18 months in barrel, dark cherries and meaty characters play a lead role. Quite supple and fine through the mouth, a touch of dried herbs come late. Pretty scents of dried red flowers keep calling you back. The tannins hold some tension pointing to a long future. Splendid really.
