Central Otago Sauv Blancs are all stonefruit and pear driven. This release was wild fermented with 25% aged in French oak for six months. I was taken aback I must say, and perhaps people (like me - I'm not the biggest Sauv Blanc fan in the world) shouldn't throw all New Zealand Sauv Blancs in the same basket. There's a wonderful and delicate creamy drive resulting from the time in oak and I found the weight quite appealing. Those stone fruits and pears just keep skipping about - a fabulous drink.
Drink now to three years.
