Lean and precise, the focus is telling when this Single Block Reserve Chardonnay lined up alongside its siblings. The Estate is more compelling with some richness whereas the detail is more direct here.
The scent of Jersey caramel whips up a frenzy early. Lemon juice, white fleshed nectarines and underripe pear, it's ribbed with a Mediterranean tonic-like texture. The fruit is pristine with a lemony drive. Some custard powder adds some creaminess although it sits back letting the fruit do the impressing. A little more detail in the mid-palate would get this another point and I reckon a some bottle age will see it mesh that extra fraction. But now we're just being picky... All up, this is an excellent Chardonnay.
