Miss Zilm Shiraz 2022

This is a new wine in the Miss Zilm range, and I like what I see. It's from the Skilly Hills in the Clare Valley, and I'm a big fan of the density and medium-bodied shape.

Said to be from a sheep pruned vineyard, some whole bunch fermentation took place (10%) with a splash of Malbec tossed in and its addition is evident on the nose giving some floral lift. It saw French oak for 16 months (10% new) with the oak imparting soft nuances. A wine that is more about the fruit and the region from where it was born, blackberries and cranberries are pinned to the core with an attractive lacy creamy chocolate wave riding throughout. Flashes of hazelnut and cedar come and go with aniseed and fine, delicate spices wrapping themselves around a respectable finish. A big thumbs up from me.
