Sieger Estate Frederick Pinot Noir 2024

This is a really pleasant drink. It comes across more like a lighter bodied Shiraz than a Pinot Noir, but the presence, shape and flow get this Sieger Estate Frederick Pinot Noir a thumbs up.

This is my first look at a wine from Siger Estate, which is sold under the Greenock Estate banner. A little fine tuning is needed in the backroom, mind you, because the website listed on the bottle doesn't work... But head to the Greenock Estate site and you're back in business.

Dark cherries, choc dipped raspberries, strawberries and some plums work in unison with scents of red petals. It's more of a fruit-driven wine and some of the expected Pinot savoury things don't really come into calculation. The mouth feel is a little slippery with silty like tannins sliding in as fruit bun and a little black pepper spice rolls onto a respectable finish. In all, it's a good, non-confrontational drink that will easily find a legion of fans.

Drink to five years.
