A positive step in the right direction, this is quite possibly the best low or no alcohol wine I have come across.
The fruit was fermented, then the alcohol removed, and it's that removal of a key ingredient in wine that does have an impact.
But still, if you are looking for an alternative to a fully leaded version of Proseccco, I reckon you could find a happy home here. Loaded with lemon drops, lemon juice, pears and a lemon sherbet tang, a lick of honey looms on close. What elevates this for me is the textural presence. You get a sense that it is brushed on with pastry-like feels and it hangs much longer than expected. But as is always the case with wines in the category, there is no back palate. Get that bit right and I reckon the low and no alcohol market will surge further.
Perfect as a mixer for a low alcohol Aperol spritz, to sip by the pool or to splash about at a picnic, this will find its tribe.
