If I were to be stranded with nothing else to drink but Chardonnay (first world problems, I know), I'd be sure to have an endless supply of these Oakridge Vineyard Series wines. This Willowlake doesn't miss a beat and keeps the bar raised high.
Tension and focus best describe this 2024 release. More concentrated than the Hazeldene through the mid-palate, a symphony of lemon juice, white fleshed nectarines and figs move about with joy and rhythm. The generosity is noticeable here, and by that I mean by Oakridge standards - a brand known for its lean and pristine expression of Chardonnay. A little nougat adds shape as does an almond nuttiness. That classic Oakridge grapefruit tang that runs on in a seemingly unstoppable fashion to have the last word and entice you back for another sip. Resistance is futile.
