Corryton Burge The Brigadier Cabernet Sauvignon 2024

Minty is the word! Proudly wearing its Cabernet colours, this release from Corryton Burge pushes the right buttons.

Blackberries and blackcurrants lead the charge, with dark chocolate and those old-school Mint Patties bringing a deliciously nostalgic twist. There’s a juicy mid-palate that gives the fruit plenty of room to stretch out, keeping the wine lively and inviting rather than weighed down by its structure. Then come the brick dust tannins. They gently grip the palate and dry out ever so slowly, leaving a savoury trail that lingers. This is Cabernet drinking proudly right now, with its freshness and bright fruit appeal very much part of the attraction. I’d be reaching for it over the next few years to capture that energy before time starts to soften the edges. Mint, dark fruit and chocolate, this is a Barossa Cabernet with its head held high.
