If the word on the street is any indicator, wine collectors are
in for a sweet ride with the impending Bordeaux Em Primeur
2015 release.
Suggested by numerous international wine critics to be one
of the best vintages ever, this 2015 is certainly seen to be the best since
2010.
But what's the fuss about? Em Primeur is
the pre-release sale of wine still in barrel. Allocations are often sold off at
cheaper rates before the wine is bottled. The intriguing factor here is that
many wines from 2015 are suggested to be sold out upon release so this may be
the only opportunity to secure a share in this fine vintage.

Caillard goes on to suggest that although the whites looked
fresh and fragrant, Chateau Haut-Brion Blanc was a standout. For the reds,
Merlot was picked over three weeks showing fleshy and ripe characters, Cabernet
Franc was vigorous with an 'attractive tannin seam', whilst the 'concentration
and vitality' shown by the Cabernet Sauvignon only adds weight to the argument that
2015 will be a commanding year.
Although the weakening Australian dollar against the Euro
may be a stumbling block for some, partaking in the Primeur will secure
allocations. Once the imports hit these shores the retail price will sure be
north of what was initially offered. In the wake of recent economic
developments in Europe, consumers should still be comforted by the fact that they
will be ahead if these wines do make it to retail land.
Purchases made now of this Bordeaux release will see expected delivery in the
second half of 2018 although the exact timing of release cannot be determined
this far out.
In the end, for those eager to get a slice of the pie now,
the key is patience. Whilst getting in early will reward the investor's hip
pocket, deep pockets at that, time will be your friend and patience will
reward.
