Come at me! Wrap your arms around this fabulous bottle of bliss. Poetry for the soul, this Yelland & Papps Shiraz possesses a fabulous gravitational pull. Go here.
The fruit is sourced from multiple vineyards from four Barossa subregions. Handpicked, 20% whole bunches were used with 68% seeing French oak and the remainder in tank for eight months.
Along with a dollop of Cinsault (5%) to liven things up a little, the portion of fruit that saw time in tank adds brightness and freshness.
Blueberries, mulberries and boysenberries run riot early. The approachability is through the roof yet offers plenty to consider with thought provoking complexity. Baked blueberries and baked raspberries rise up late with a flash of cranberry that gives a nod to the Cinsault. Ribbons of chocolate, earthiness and pan juices are all parcelled up neatly by delicious exotic spices that persist on an elongated finish. I could get dangerously comfortable with this, and perhaps I did. I could even be talked into adding another point simply because of the pleasure this delivers.
Drink to five years.
