If you were to be drinking a wine on a cloud, this Oakridge 864 Funder & Diamond Drive Block Chardonnay would be in your hand. Balanced, poised, focused and delicate yet wonderfully detailed. Exceptional.
I felt the 2022 was the best release of this wine that I have seen to date, and then this 2023 lands. Just wow. That's three exceptional releases on the trot, and each one seems to supersede the previous. An incredible feat by winemaker David Bicknell and his team.
A masterful expression of Chardonnay, the detail and focus here are once again nailing the brief. White fleshed nectarines open the account with pink grapefruit adding purity and that cutting line of focus. Lemon juice, fine ribbons of cream, brioche and cashews add intrigue and interest in equal doses. There is a faint tropical note which is more aligned to pineapple husk, but nothing can take my attention away from the composure, the flavoursome presence and that pitch-perfect balance. Brilliant and then some. Bravo
