Silky, curvaceous with a detailed and persistent length, this Levantine Hill Estate Syrah is a mightily impressive wine.
Handpicked and hand-sorted, it sees a variety of smaller and larger formats for nineteen months (12% new).
There is no shirking the layers of interest. It opens with macerated cherries, blueberries, blackberries and cherry cola with char, twigs, orange peel, a drop or two of negroni and dried thyme adding savoury pleasure. Woodsy spices are pinned to the frame before a sustained length clutches at your soul. Powdery and chalky tannins have the last word and add more to ponder. Delightful, considered and wonderfully moreish, I'll have another glass thanks!
