Plums, drunken red cherries and blackcurrants provide a lovely burst of fruit, with the respectable density you’d expect from Montepulciano giving the wine plenty of presence without becoming heavy. Bright acidity nips at the edges of the palate, keeping everything fresh and vibrant while quietly signalling that this has the structure to cruise comfortably into the medium term. There’s a lovely balance between fruit generosity and savoury freshness here, making it incredibly easy to imagine alongside food. Mushroom risotto? Absolutely. Pasta? Of course. Meatballs? Bring them on.
