Trofeo Estate is the largest user of amphora in the southern hemisphere - I love learning little bits of info like that. All the amphora are imported directly from Tuscany too. The wines are 100% matured in Terracotta Amphora - oak is pushed to the side.
There's some weight here but it gives the impression that it left its dancing shoes in the car. The energy of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris didn't shine here as much as I had hoped.
Peach skin, expected pear, stewed apple and subtle honey. A definitive line lies between the fruit and acid - the balance not in sync. A touch of ginger spice to finish.
I'd find it hard to finish a glass.
Drink now to three years.
87/100 - Good
