I like the cut of this Semillon. It's the flagship of the three Semillons in the Gundog range. Better fruit parcels and more thoughtful winemaking sealing the deal.
Curiously, despite being the flagship, all Semillons are the same price. Not to worry - quality is high across the board.
Four months of light lees has imparted some interest. There's some fruit tension but that doesn't disturb the momentum this builds. Great width in the mouth, finger lime, lemon grass and a slight pithy character cruise on by. Chalky feels to finish. Well balanced acid is poised to cut through some fish and chips while you absorb the sea spray at the water's edge. Chill hard and smiles will be sure to follow. Jump at it.
Drink now but will cellar to a decade+
