My first look at Heslop Wines from Mudgee and I like what I see. Take a whiff and it's easy to get hooked. Well presented too - I do like the wax seal. A sexy touch.
The only thing which detracts, however, is if you are going to the trouble of a wax seal, using a cheap cork devalues the whole exercise. But I've moved on...
Sour dough, dark chocolate, aniseed and green herb aromas jump out. Dark berries and my mum's Christmas cake make welcome appearances as they swirl in unison around the mouth. Sapping and puckering tannins, this is not a shy wine.
Find something hearty to eat and sit a glass of this beside.
