A few months ago I wrote an article for Grapegrower Winemaker magazine (Coonawarra: Breaking New Ground) highlighting what's new in the region. This release comes after that was published. Wines like these are now putting Coonawarra on the map to a new breed of consumer showing that the region is well beyond a one trick pony.
I'm privileged to see a lot of wine each year. So far in 2017 I've reviewed 463. Some get your attention more than others that's for sure - this pretty number has rocketed to the top of the 'wow factor' list.
Wild fermentation took place after the fruit was picked a little earlier than the norm (13% alc). Fruit driven deluxe, there's not a splinter of oak in sight. Fruit bomb city!
Rosella, hibiscus and pretty red flower aromas explode from the glass. Brilliant packaging and labeling seals the deal - big heavy bottle making a statement with a wax seal for good measure.
Slurp factor is sky high. Super soft and velvety smooth berry fruit parade carefree urging another sip. Some earthy and savoury characters play a supporting role but let that fruit sing! This tasting has turned into a drinking admittedly - it's sheer approachability is absolutely captivating.
Walk over broken glass to get your hands on it.
Drink now to three years.
