From Queensland's South Burnett comes this tasty Tempranillo. Lightning Tree is the product of the district's long-standing viticulturist Peter Stewart and his wife Vikki. Smart gear, pizza, burgers and barbecues are sorted.
The fruit is tightly coiled on opening and slowly reveals its true self. Speed things up and decant then give it a good shake. Mouth-sapping cocoa tannins are puckering and deliver a moreishness. Red fruits, char, cured meats and flickers of dark chocolate light the flame that keep you enthused with a trail of fine spices on a long finish. Have a glass beside some food and you're in business.
