From the hands of the AWRI guru Dr Wes Pearson comes this Juxtaposed Grenache. A blend of fruit from the famed Smart and Wait vineyards (Clarendon and Blewitt Springs respectively), this 2021 is a muscular rendition.
Pearson has parked his Dodgy Bros label for now and levelled up on the Juxtaposed range. With an average vine age of 65 years, this Grenache is highlighted by red plums, drunken cherries and sour red cherries plus some baked raspberries. A dried red petal perfume diffuses adding pretty scents to the layered palate. Tense early, it calms to show red licorice, earthy touches and charcoal. Not as juicy as some of his Grenache wines of years gone by, this release will age quite well I feel - if that is your thing when it comes to Grenache.
