NSE Wines E Block Grenache 2023

 

A brand new range of wines hitting the ground for their debut, what a privilege it is to be the first to review them. Based in McLaren Vale, NSE Wines is a family passion project. With only 9 cases produced of this E Block Grenache, it calls for paella, burgers and barbecues - lazy nights in are sorted.

The whole family is immersed in the brand with each block named after a member of the family - a nice touch. This E Block Grenache is named after the second daughter Evie.

A wine with some density, it opens with mulberries and boysenberries that are partnered by chocolate dipped raspberries. Meaty with peppered steak and ripples of earth, long, fine spices are chiselled into its frame. Those spices stay the course and ride out to a long and persistent finish. Food friendly deluxe, this is a more than respectable debut from a tiny crop. I suspect the 9 cases will be snapped up fairly quickly.
