Schwarz Wine Co Nitschke Block Shiraz 2024

First produced in 2001 from a site planted by Jason Schwarz's parents at Bethany, there's a confidence and sense of place that shines through from the outset.

A deep crimson hue sets the scene. Dark berries and plums drive the fruit profile, bringing plenty of concentration and density without feeling overworked. Layers of coffee grounds, licorice and Dutch cocoa add richness and complexity, while woodsy spices and cedar provide a welcome savoury counterpoint. The palate carries an impressive length, yet it remains composed and layered. There's a generosity to the fruit, but it's the balance and persistence that leave the lasting impression. What I enjoyed most was its drinkability. It draws you back time and again, with a finish that lingers comfortably and encourages another look. Great stuff.
