Bright purple and red fruit on opening more to black fruits, black cherries, licorice, underripe red apple, mandarin peel and some black forest cake appeal all building an inviting introduction. A wine with plenty of width and breadth, Dutch cocoa tannins take the stage and don't let go. Long and drying, those powdery tannins just sit forever sapping all moisture from the mouth. It's a wine that needs food, ideally something generous and comforting. But for what is in the glass, this is a class act. Bravo!
