McLaren Vale has a lot of things but Riesling is not one of them. This Curtis Small Batch is only the third producer I have come across with a Riesling in their ranks. An easy-going type, this will find its people, particularly those who like to just go with the flow.
It's a wine with a shapely persona as opposed to those bright, crisp styles you'd expect from the variety. Honeycomb, yellow flowers, custard apple and golden apple are the main drivers. Quite rounded through the palate, there is a lemony twist and a lick of green apple skin on close. Chilled vibes and a bag of sea salt chips will do the trick.
