Previously reviewed, this Biscay Road 2022 has been resent to line up alongside the new 2023. Side-by-side comparisons like this are valuable in many ways. A more balanced wine compared to the new 2023, the extra year of bottle age is telling.
It sees 18 months in French oak which is quite the outlier for a $25 wine. Plums plus array of dense berry fruit highlighted by mulberries and blackberries are the drivers. Dark chocolate, baking spices and some cedar show their hand with a spicy and lengthy finish. A really enjoyable expression of Barossa Shiraz, give it a decant and it will continue to evolve.
