I've had the opportunity to taste a handful of off-dry Rieslings of late, and this Pikes Olga Emmie is the best of them. On first inspection, my mind rushes to my childhood with Whizz Fizz lemon sherbet and Pine Lime Splice cutting loose. Yum!
The fruit for this wine is the earliest picked from 20 year old vines. It carries 46.7g/L residual sugar and the buzzword is balance. The sugar is up on other wines tasted yet this sees the fruit, acid and sugar mesh the best.
Green apples aplenty ride on the back of that splendid introduction with expected lemon and lime juice that Riesling does so well. This release will tick the boxes if an off-dry Riesling is your thing.
