For an Italian, Ray Costanzo knows how to smash out a Spanish variety with aplomb. The Golden Grove Estate Joven Tempranillo has built a cult following both from retail customers and those dining in restaurants, and it is easy to see why. This is excellent once again.
Loaded with red cherries, red plums, red licorice, cola and sarsaparilla, the meatiness expected with the variety follows soon after in the form of pan juices and charcuterie board. A small percentage of whole bunches were used and add to the savoury appeal but the fruit is still the hero with only a small portion seeing seasoned French oak. So vibrant and inviting, a flash of char circles late with that classic crunchy acidity signing off in style. A brilliant expression of medium-bodied deliciousness.
