Eastside is a reference to Pikes' location in the Clare Valley region. This Shiraz is a tidy drink that offers plenty of interest.
Dark plums, dark cherries, red berry fruits and even a lick of cola are parcelled up by ribbons of spice. Ripples of earthy delights slide in underneath cinnamon, star anise and a faint suggestion of licorice. The acid pulsates some energy through the wine, and the longer it sits, the more blue fruits come to the fore. And what about that seemingly never ending length? A big thumbs up from me.
