A very clever McLaren Vale Shiraz from Shottesbrook. Some more time in bottle will help as is evidenced by the 2016 which is looking a treat. I had the luxury of tasting this over a couple of days. And well, I really bloody like it. There's a charm to its early demonstration of bravado.
Dark chocolate and choc dipped raspberries will have you licking your lips before dark plums and dried herbs slide on in. Puffs of black earth and persistent cloves do their work in the background. A spicy Shiraz, it's still tightly wound. Cocoa tannins are the parting gift, but put this away for a few years yet before giving it an embrace.
