Vranken-Pommery has become the first Grande Marque Champagne House to produce a sparkling wine from English Terroir.
Quite a refreshing sparkling, a heavy dose of green apple sets the tone. Made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and a small proportion of Pinot Meunier, it is pale yellow in the glass and shows the white bit of the strawberry, hazelnuts, almond meal, and a wonderful creamy drive that builds some pleasant momentum. There is a fair crunch from the acidity which may deter a few, but the acid brings the mouth the water. A very good alternative for those seeking a change from traditional French Champagnes.
