The Hunter Valley has no peer when it comes to Semillon. Be it fresh and vibrant new releases or a cellar release with some time under its belt, these wines done well are 'semsational'. This pristine 2018 from Mount Pleasant is proof of that.
Pale straw in appearance, a lemon pulse is the beating heart of this beauty. Lemon rind and preserved lemons with a touch of lime pith get you in the mood. Lanolin and a smear of pastry add interest. A wine with tremendous width and flow, it reaches all corners of the palate. It bowls along like a big ball of voluptuous citrus fruit. As it has moved into the aging phase, a faint kerosene trait is evident. Generous and concentrated, this is absolutely glorious now but it will continue to evolve graciously.
