The wines in the Burton McMahon range are in a sweet spot right now. A label worth following, this George's Vineyard Chardonnay is generous but impeccably weighted. Winning!
It sees ten months in French oak (30% new) with the oak showing its hand via a flicker of caramel. Flinty to start, almonds, figs and barbecued nectarines and vanilla pod work wonderfully alongside the white stonefruit on offer. A nuttiness kicks on leading to a delicate textural grip. The layers of interest continue to unfurl and seem almost unstoppable. Big love!
