A wine to embrace, the moreish appeal is gravitating. Inspired by the Hunter Burgundy wines of years gone by, this Gundog Estate is gloriously medium-bodied and drawn from two vineyards lying in the shadow of the Broken Back Range.
Red fruit driven with red cherry highlights, it sees French oak puncheons (25% new) with maturation taking place over 16 months.
Char and oak are prominent on opening but settle on day two of tasting. A wine deserving time in the cellar, it displays charcuterie meatiness with flashes of blackberry. Its detail is clear and the attractive dried red petal and violet aromas extend to add some pretty mouth perfume. Long and fine, this will continue to excel with age.
