Mudgee is doing Italian varieties very well and this Barbera from Skimstone is another case in point.
Tomato bush, a little dark chocolate and beets get my attention early. Time in the glass sees things settle and expected dark berries and dark cherry fruit rise up. Wonderfully medium-bodied, it's sleek and silky with a red apple tease on close. My mind is at duck ragu.
