An exercise in blending expertise, this Yangarra Estate Blanc brings together a curious bunch of varieties, yet the final product is a fabulous wine dripping with textural interest.
Pie apple, pear juice and pastry reach for your attention early. Slight golden in appearance, the textural presence and drive is what I'm here for. A blend of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Gris and Piquepoul Blanc (80/6/5/2/1), it sees six months in old oak before blending. Tropical fruit and lemon juice find some wriggle room and the savoury delight and lick of nuttiness on close oozes delish. Great stuff and highly recommended for those in search of stretching their curiosity.
Drink to three years.
