Wykari of Clare Reserve Cabernet Shiraz 2021

A Reserve wine of excellent quality for 30 bucks is too cheap - but that's the humble pricing you can expect with these Wykari of Clare wines. This Cabernet Shiraz will reward for many years to come - it's pretty darn good.

I don't have any detail on the oak regime, but I can tell you that this blend sees the best fruit parcels fused together from Peter Shearer's dry-grown vineyards.

Mocha, blackberry pastilles and black currants make a strong opening statement. Dense, concentrated and rich, cedar, baking spices and vanilla add fine detailed touches. The longer it sits, the more savoury appeal rises up with dried thyme and sage sneaking into the frame with a minty undertow. Drying tannins draw moisture from the mouth ever so slowly in a stealth-like fashion. And that length!! A keeper for sure, there is severe bang for buck value here.
