Recently awarded the best sub $15 wine at the Royal Queensland Wine Show. It's a solid red for the money. Call me harsh though, because I'm not banging the bargain drum.
Alongside the dark fruits sit mulberries, red currants and touches of cedar. There's a good presence in the mouth - credit where it's due. Peppery spice rattles home with a tense tannin profile which clings to a long finish. Slow-cooked beef cheeks perhaps or even a pizza would do the trick. It's a good buy but I can't see the bling factor.
Drink now to five years.
