Here's a smart Cabernet from a label you may never have heard of. The good folk at Whistle Post are former growers who've cut their Hardy's contracts and gone it alone.
As with the entry-level Cabernet, this is dry with good fruit to show. There's a shine to this wine which I find appealing. Made with 30% new French oak, a soft herby drive is the feature for me before generous black fruits fill every crevice of the mouth. Oak is well handled and complements the fruit well. With a seemingly never-ending finish, this is quality Coonawarra Cabernet.
